How To Price Custom Content.
We like very specific examples here at
Junta42, but the answer to this question is - it depends. That
said, let's see if we can dig a bit deeper on this subject.
Here are some variables to consider when determining your
project investment:
Services Required: Do you need content only, or
something more? For example, if you are looking to launch a
custom magazine, not only do you need content/editorial
services, but you need project management, graphic design,
photography/stock art, production management, printing/distribution
services, and possibly even advertising sales services. Most
likely, your content project requires more than
just one service, so pricing will be higher for those projects.
Type of Project: Most likely, a custom magazine or
print newsletter project will cost substantially more than a blog.
The same may go for a cutting-edge video series versus a YouTube
quality posting series.
Type of Content: Are your content needs very
general in nature (we hope not, the more specific the better), or
does it require an expertise? If you need niche vertical content
that involves getting many experts involved, you'll likely pay a
premium. Think of it this way - is the information easy to get or
difficult to get. The more difficult or niche, the more investment
needed.
Quality: Honestly, we're hoping for high quality
here. High quality costs money. If you are looking for general
content that you can find anywhere, you can get that on the
cheap. If you are, don't look here, and there is a good chance
you won't position yourself as an expert with content like
that.
Distribution: Do you have "opt-in" names of all
your customers or do you need some help reaching the right people?
It may take some time and expense to get the right people
requesting your custom content.
Partial or Turnkey: Similar to our point #1, but
worth some more explaining. Hiring a custom content
provider to do one or two things will definitely involve
less investment. That said, realize that taking on certain parts of
the project costs you internal resources as well. So, while
Turnkey production will most likely involve more outside
investment, it may actually be less expensive in the long
run.

Content?"
